I am interested in re-knotting an old brush with a knot from the Golden Nib. What is the best way to remove the old knot?

keep pulling.

I don't know about higher end, but I think some of them are glued in.  Soaking in alcohol may loosen the glue?  Maybe not, I could be completely wrong.

My first brush was a POS brush and the knot just fell right out after about 3 shaves.

I can tell you how I did it and finish by saying I have to beleve there is a better way .

I used a knife to cut the hair down to flush and then a narrow chisel to dig out the knot. Followed by sanding the glue from the sides and bottom .

While this worked, it was a slow hard way to do it. I'm thinking careful use of a Dremel tool might work. However I would still sand the sides by hand so as not to enlarge or distort the opening.

Just my thoughts,
Ken.
